Innovating for Student Success in Unlikely Places

Elizabeth Forward School District (EFSD) lies in an old industrial area approximately 20 miles south of Pittsburgh and has been called an “unlikely place” to find a hotbed of innovation. And yet, it is just that, a hotbed of innovation.

Under the leadership of Dr. Bart Rocco and Dr. Todd Keruskin, EFSD has successfully changed its culture of student learning to one that thrives on new technology and strategic partnerships. The Challenge

Dr. Bart Rocco became superintendent of Elizabeth Forward School District in mid-2009, after being introduced to the EdInsight Data Window at West Mifflin School District and through a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh. Shortly after arriving at EFSD, he hired Dr. Todd Keruskin, formerly principal of Baldwin High School, as assistant superintendent.
